South Waikato District Council has installed washing/showering facilities
Shower facilities:
Attached design from Cube Innovations.
At the time we installed these, (most recent in 2021) Cube offered the only option available on the market for tanked water, as none of our rural freedom camping reserves have piped water supply.
Your marae situation may have water supply?
May not be an issue for you at the marae situation, but due to the remoteness of our rural freedom camping reserves we often experience vandalism and theft (batteries, solar panels, inverters, etc). We had the latest set of shower blocks modified to lessen this happening, by having Cube undertake the following modifications:
3. Additional fencing
We added a fence on top of the tanks to prevent people climbing into the storage room and stealing the batteries, other componentry.
We found the 100W solar panels provided by Cube were not large enough and have changed to 130W panels.
Cost in 2021 was around the $31,800 mark, for supply only.
Toilets:
The toilets in Lake Whakamaru reserve were originally sourced from Fel, being ‘Landmark’ models. However, I do not think Fel supply toilets anymore. One supplier Council is looking into potentially supplying toilet facilities is Portabuild (portabuild.co.nz, ph 0800 668 322). These can include toilet/shower options.
